Singer: Lenny Kravitz

House and recording studio on Eleuthera

As a child, Lenny Kravitz visited Nassau each summer. That continued into adulthood, but by then the rock star had discovered Eleuthera in the Out Islands/Family Islands. He arrived after midnight and when he woke up the next morning, he realised he had arrived home – and has never left. “When you go to a family island, you’re going into a whole other world…you’re going deeper, getting the real character of the Bahamas. That is the real cultural experience. I feel like my most authentic self here. Everything makes sense. It’s where my mother’s family is from, and I’ve called it home for a while. There’s a connection to my roots and a community that I am part of. I can be me.” Source
