New Providence has some of the Best Beaches in the World

The Bahamas has some of the best beaches in the world – and New Providence has more than its fair share to admire and enjoy.

Whether you enjoy sunbathing to work on your tan, taking a romantic coastal walk, having fun with your favourite water sport, or simply drinking in the amazing view, New Providence has a world-class beach that you will want to come back to time and time again.

For those who buy luxury real estate in New Providence, that’s exactly what you can do – and create lasting memories with your partner, family, friends, and colleagues.

With beautiful weather, luscious waves, and perfect sand, New Providence is certainly not short of options when planning a day trip to the shore.

So Engel & Völkers Bahamas Advisors have selected their five favourite beaches to visit in New Providence.

Cabbage Beach

Technically not New Providence, Paradise Island is joined to the mainland by two bridges.  Cabbage Beach, which is often named among the best beaches in the world, is lined with luxury resorts and exclusive beachfront homes. This stretch of water certainly embodies the excitable, lively Caribbean spirit. The beach is available each day of the week, so choose whichever day has the best weather and be aware that the high-profile beach is popular!

Old Fort Bay

Hands down the most beautiful beach in New Providence, Old Fort Bay is a luxury canal community on the western end of New Providence. The community is highlighted by the majesty of the Old Fort clubhouse, once the home of the Cutting family created in the 1920s. The Old Fort club sits mightily on the top of the ridge overlooking the spectacular beach and turquoise waters. A 19th-century cannon greets visitors on the front lawn and the building is surrounded by flaming poincianas and a giant silk cotton tree.

Cable Beach

A go-to beach for many in the Bahamas – and of the best beaches anywhere – Cable Beach is not only beautiful but easily accessible, as it is just 15-minutes away from Nassau. It is no wonder that it was voted the number one Bahamas beach by United States visitors. Its picture-perfect turquoise water, white sand, and shallow waters make it a favourite of families.  At 4 miles long, the beach is the longest on the island and offers all the watersports you could wish for.

Caves Beach

Jaws Beach

As the name may suggest, this beautiful, quiet and free access beach to the west of Nassau was a site for the final scenes of one of the Jaws movies. Thankfully, the beach is quiet and perfect for families with young children, as there is plenty of tree coverage for shade and shallow water. It is also worth emphasizing that shark attacks are very rare. This beautiful seaside is part of the Clifton Heritage Park Acreage and is therefore protected.

Love Beach

Love Beach is perfect in name and perfect in nature! Set on the northwest of the island, this is the ideal place to come with a partner. Although it can be difficult to get to, it does have the advantage of being one of the quiet beaches in New Providence. Not only this, but there is an abundance of extravagant tropical fish to see, so bring your snorkeling gear. What could be more romantic? Be aware that there are no public facilities or parking here. Most people come by bus or taxi.
